Bag and Bored Nominated For Liebster Award!

Huge thanks to the crew at Lost In 8bit for nominating us for the Liebster Award, an honor given to smaller sites/blogs with around 200 followers or less to help spread the awareness of sites that might be dipping too far under fan radar.  We are humbled and excited about this, and we wish all the best of luck to the final winner of this community based award.

As part of this nomination I am to nominate 5 sites that I feel are more than worth a look, and they are to follow suit by not only nominating 5 of their own (separate from the one who nominated you) but also by answering the 11 questions given.  I would like to nominate Outright Geekery, Giant Size Comic Things, The Telltale Mind, All About Manga And Anime, and Geekly Reviews.  Now, on to the questions!

(Answers provided by Bag & Bored Editor Cory Thrall)

Why did you decide to blog in the first place?
I started Bag & Bored as a way to help deal with a serious health issue that I was trying not to dwell on too much.  What started as me and my computer has now grown to an actual team of reviewers and more!  A small hobby is now one of the main things in my life, and I couldn’t be happier with the crew we’ve worked with or the work we’ve posted.  Very proud and excited to be where I’m at.

Name three of your pastimes or hobbies.
Well, comics, of course - not only as a reader and reviewer/Editor, but also as the Editor-In-Chief and writer/artist at DimThroat Comics.  I love to play and write music, as well as perform, which is something I’ve been a part of in one way or another since my teens (I’m 37).  My third would have to be baseball and the San Francisco Giants.  That team has been so special to me throughout my entire life.

If you could interview anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
Jack Kirby.  Hands down, ask me in ten years, etc.  I would interview Jack Kirby during his 70’s phase, dig into how his art and process had changed so much since his early days at Marvel, etc.

Do you have any pets? If not, what would you consider getting?
I have an awesome tuxedo kitty named Bronson, who is my best buddy and partner in crime.

What is your favorite movie and why?
I know it’s cheating to have a tie, but I really do feel both Hitchcock’s “Psycho” and Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” are my #1 favorite films.  So, there!  I cheated :)

What is your favorite video game and why?
I’ll have to reach back a good ways into the past and drudge up “Arcanum” on the PC (1998).  It’s such an amazingly overlooked game, and the story really held the line between magic and technology perfectly.

What is your favorite comic book and why?
Well, Batman is my favorite character, but as of right now my favorite comic is Image’s “Deadly Class”.

What is your favorite Youtube channel?
Radiohead’s official channel.

If you could cosplay as any character, who would it be and why?
A 100% accurate cosplay of Will Eisner’s The Spirit.

What is your favorite topic to write about?
Horror/Sci-Fi and serial killers.

What’s your favourite fandom?
Any game from BioWare, or any of the early versions of this team.  They are responsible for games I’ve obsessed over since the late 90’s.
